PLEASE BE AWARE ALL ANIMALS CAN CARRY BACTERIA AND ORGANISMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO HUMANS (including your pets, farm animals and wild animals).

·         Although the risk of catching these organisms is very low, some bacteria such as E.coli can cause severe illness particularly to the more vulnerable people ie. young children under 5 and elderly people over 65.

·         E.coli can be carried by many animals including dogs, cats, pet reptiles, wild birds, farm animals and even people.

·         To help prevent illness, wash hands with soap and running water after visiting animals and animal areas, as well as avoiding animal faeces (particularly on your footwear).

·         Alcohol gel/sanitiser or Wipes do not remove or kill all harmful bacteria and is not a substitute for hand washing.

·         Do not eat and drink in animal areas

·         Please follow the safety guidelines and safety signs around the farm.

·         Germs can be carried on clothing. Please take extra care when wearing gloves. Hands must still be washed after removing gloves and before eating.

Pregnant women at lambing / kidding

Some sheep and goats can carry a bacteria, present in the birthing fluids, that may cause miscarriage in the 1st trimester of pregnancy. Pregnant women are advised to avoid all contact with birthing fluids, newly born animals and their mothers and should always wash hands after visiting a birthing area.

All of our new born lambs will be kept in a pen in full view of the public for at least the first 4 days after birth. This significantly reduces the risk as you will not be able to touch them, minimising the likelihood of birthing fluids coming in to contact with the public

PLEASE NOTE:

If after visiting the farm you contact diarrhoea, particularly if it is severe and contains blood then please report to your doctor and seek medical advice immediately
